How do you create a ChatGPT Project?

How do projects handle memory?
Each project can use either default memory or project-only memory, and you choose when you create it or later in Project settings.
Default memory: your saved memories are referenced, and chats can draw on other conversations in the same project. Whether conversations outside the project are reachable depends on your plan.
Project-only memory: your earlier saved memories are not used in project chats, chats can reference only other conversations in the same project, and nothing in the project is visible to chats outside it.
Shared projects are automatically set to project-only memory and cannot be switched back.

For personal accounts, OpenAI says shared project data may be used to improve models only when the owner and every contributor have "Improve the model for everyone" turned on. Deleting a project permanently removes its chats and instructions, along with files stored only in the project.
