ChatGPT plans come in five levels: Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business. Free costs nothing, Go is $8 a month, Plus is $20, Pro starts at $100 and Business is priced per user. On the UK App Store, Go is £6.99, Plus is £19.99 and the cheapest Pro is £88.90. Checked on 21 October 2026.

Checked on 21 October 2026 against OpenAI's pricing page, its Pro tiers help article and its Business page. UK pound prices are the UK App Store figures already checked in our UK cost guide on the same date.

ChatGPT plans look more confusing than they are. OpenAI now sells five levels, and one of them, Pro, has three tiers inside it. This page puts Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business in one table, then gives you a short guide to which plan fits you.

It compares plans. If you only want to know how much you will pay in pounds, read How Much Does ChatGPT Cost in the UK? instead. This page is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

What are the ChatGPT plans, side by side?

Dollar prices come from OpenAI's website. Pound prices come from the UK App Store. Where OpenAI gives no figure, the table says not published instead of guessing.

Only Pro 500 includes Ultrafast. New Pro 200 subscriptions get a lower allowance than before. Monthly billing only.

Business

Two or more people need shared admin and one bill.

Minimum two users. Dot is Premium only, in eligible markets. No price published.

The wording in the table follows OpenAI's own pricing page, which describes the paid plans as building on each other: Go adds to Free, Plus adds to Go, and Pro adds to Plus. For the full pillar guide to the free tier, see Is ChatGPT Free? Free vs Plus vs Pro Explained.

Which ChatGPT plan fits you? A five-question guide

Work down these five questions in order and stop at the first one you answer yes to. It is a guide, not advice, and it never claims a plan is best for everyone. Plans and prices change, so confirm on OpenAI's pricing page before you pay.

  1. Are you buying for a team of two or more who need shared admin controls? If yes, Business fits you. OpenAI sells it per user, from two users, and I found no published price. See OpenAI's Business page.

  2. Do you regularly use up your allowance, or want Dot, the always-on agent, or the highest usage? If yes, Pro fits you, from $100 a month ($100 / £88.90 on the UK App Store for Pro 100). It has three tiers, so compare them in ChatGPT Plus vs Pro.

  3. Do you want the advanced reasoning models, expanded deep research or ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile? If yes, Plus fits you, at $20 a month (£19.99 on the UK App Store). Limits still apply.

  4. Do you often hit the Free limits on uploads, image creation or voice chats? If yes, and you would accept possible ads to pay less, Go fits you, at $8 a month (£6.99 on the UK App Store). Read What Is ChatGPT Go?. If you would rather avoid ads, Plus fits you instead.

  5. Is none of the above true? Then Free fits you at $0 (£0). It suits everyday questions and short drafts. See Is ChatGPT Free?.

Prices were checked on 21 October 2026. Dollar prices are from OpenAI's website and pound prices are UK App Store prices.

How do the plans differ in practice?

Which models does each plan include?

According to OpenAI's comparison table, Free and Go include GPT-6 Luna. Plus adds GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Pro has expanded access to those, plus a Pro-only model, GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. For a deeper look at the top two paid plans, read ChatGPT Plus vs Pro.

How much text can each plan handle?

OpenAI lists the total context window for its Instant models at 27K on Free, 54K on Go and Plus, and 128K on Pro. For its reasoning models, the figure is 256K on Go and Plus and 400K on Pro, while Free is listed as varies. OpenAI also gives the approximate input maximum as about 12 pages of text on Free, about 40 on Go and Plus, and about 250 on Pro.

What does a year cost in pounds?

Using the UK App Store prices, a year of Go at £6.99 a month comes to £83.88. A year of Plus at £19.99 a month comes to £239.88. A year of Pro 100 at £88.90 a month comes to £1,066.80. Because personal plans are billed monthly, you can subscribe for a heavy month and stop afterwards. Our guide to cancelling your ChatGPT subscription shows how.

If you are a developer, note that none of these plans include API credit. The API is billed separately, as explained in ChatGPT API Pricing Explained.

Where do the sources disagree, and what is not published?

Plan pages change quickly, and some third-party price lists are already out of date. Here is what I did about each gap:

  • Pro tiers: some pages list Pro at a single $200 price. OpenAI's own help article, updated on 21 October 2026, lists three monthly plans: Pro 100 at $100, Pro 200 at $200 and Pro 500 at $500. I used OpenAI's figures.

  • Pro 200 allowance: OpenAI says new Pro 200 subscriptions include a lower usage allowance than before, while the price stays at $200. Existing subscribers who qualify for grandfathering keep the previous allowance until 29 October 2026.

  • Business price: not published on the OpenAI pages I checked, so the table does not show one.

  • Pounds on the website: OpenAI shows dollar prices. I have no confirmed pound price for the website, so the only pound figures here are UK App Store prices.

  • UK VAT: I could not confirm whether the website price adds VAT. UK App Store prices include tax. Check the total at checkout.

What about ChatGPT Business?

Business is the only plan in this table built for organisations. OpenAI says it gives teams a secure workspace with shared company context, plugins, flexible seats and admin controls, and that over 5 million business users worldwide use it. Seats come as Standard or Premium, and Premium adds 5 times more usage, no five-hour limit and access to Dot.

OpenAI's pricing FAQ says Business plans start at two users and can be billed monthly or annually. It does not show a price on the pages I read, so I have left it as not published. A solo user should look at Plus or Pro, not Business.

Frequently asked questions

What are the ChatGPT plans?

OpenAI sells five levels: Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business. Free, Go, Plus and Pro are for individuals, and Business is for teams of two or more. Pro has three usage tiers inside it, called Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500.

Which ChatGPT plan should a beginner start with?

Start with Free, because it costs nothing and lets you find out which limits actually get in your way. Move up only when a specific limit, such as uploads, images or voice chats, stops you getting work done. Go is the smallest step up, and it may include ads. To see the exact caps behind each plan, read ChatGPT limits by plan.

How much is each ChatGPT plan in pounds?

OpenAI's website shows dollar prices, so pounds depend on where you subscribe. On the UK App Store, checked on 21 October 2026, Go is £6.99, Plus is £19.99, Pro 100 is £88.90, Pro 200 is £200.00 and Pro 500 is £444.99. Our UK cost guide explains the difference.

How much does ChatGPT Business cost?

I could not find a Business price on OpenAI's pricing or Business pages, so the honest answer is not published. OpenAI says Business is priced per user per month and starts at two users. Contact OpenAI's sales team or start a trial to see the price for your team.

Can I pay for a ChatGPT plan yearly?

Not for the personal plans I checked. OpenAI's pricing page lists monthly plans for Go and Plus, and its help centre says Pro is billed monthly with no annual billing. Annual plans are offered for Business and Enterprise.

Does ChatGPT charge VAT in the UK?

UK App Store prices include tax. OpenAI's pricing page shows dollar prices, and I could not confirm whether the website total adds VAT, so treat it as unconfirmed. The checkout screen shows the real total before you pay.

Can I change my ChatGPT plan later?

Yes. OpenAI says you can open Settings, then My Plan, to see your subscription and the plan changes available. If you want to stop paying, our guide to cancelling your subscription covers each platform.
